10 Years of mesoSPIM Symposium 2025

Symposium 2025 - 10 Years of mesoSPIM

Join us for the mesoSPIM 10-Year Symposium, celebrating a decade of innovation, collaboration, and scientific discovery powered by open-source light-sheet microscopes. This three-day event will bring together biologists, physicists, developers, facility managers, image analysis experts, and industry experts to showcase their discoveries, tools, products, as well as share experiences and explore future directions in light-sheet microscopy.

Highlights include keynote presentations, developer talks, application showcases, poster sessions, and industry demonstrations. The symposium aims to broaden the light-sheet microscopy community, promote interdisciplinary collaborations, and foster the adoption of open-source microscopy solutions across Europe and beyond.

Whether you're a biologist with a need to image larger samples, a microscopy enthusiast, or a light-sheet veteran, this symposium offers valuable insights and networking opportunities for all career levels.

Program summary

Day 1: Light-sheet microscopy and tissue clearing
Learn the latest insights from experts in imaging and tissue clearing. Exchange with colleagues in an informal atmosphere. Enjoy the diverse program of talks and posters.

Day 2: Microscopy and Image Analysis
How to image and then handle those terabytes with grace? Talks, poster session, and industry demos.

Day 3: Maker Day
Learn hands-on, ask questions, and share your experience with makers and hackers who design, build and improve open-source light-sheet microscopes. Limited number of spots!

Call for abstracts (closed)

The mesoSPIMs have been used in over 100 published research papers, dissertations, and preprints since the launch of the initiative. And it is just one of the stars in the SPIM open-source universe (among openSPIM, exaSPIM, and many others). Visit us and present your work in a form of short talk, poster, or a demo!

We accepted abstracts in the following categories:

  • applications of light-sheet microscopy in biology, neuroscience, physics, or other natural sciences
  • tissue clearing techniques
  • open-source image processing and data analysis tools in light-sheet microscopy
  • commercial software for large-scale image analysis
  • commercial hardware for building light-sheet microscopes
  • open-source light-sheet microscopes: original designs and creative modifications
